Chromatography Data System module announced - CIMS improving Chromatography Data Management in the Laboratory

Sept 28 2004

Chromatography Information Management system  (CIMS)

Justice Laboratory Software has announced a powerful new Chrom Perfect® data management utility for users of the latest chromatography data system software Version 5.5.2.
Chromatography Information Management System ("CIMS") provides a way to search selected directories for Chrom Perfect® Spirit files, and create lists of files that match specified criteria. Output may be directed to the printer, a PDF file, an ASCII text file, or a Sequence file.

Setting up and running searches are done through intuitive user forms broken into two sections.  The first relates to finding text, criteria like; user name, data file name, etc would be entered.  Next to each item's name are three radio buttons, which control the status. The captions for these radio buttons are "P" (Present), "A" (Absent), and "D" ("Don't care"). The second section details the Numeric Items, captions for these radio buttons are "S" (Single value), "R" (Range), and "D" ("Don't care").

Searches are very fast and easy to set up and perform.  Thousands of files can be searched in seconds.  Key to the system is its flexibility.

For example a very simple search would be:

"Find all analysis performed by user "JohnS" last month."

Or a more extensive search using multiple data syntax might be required

"Find all analysis performed last week by "JohnS" on Instrument number six, where component x was present between retention 10 minutes and 10.8 minutes at a concentration of over 100 PPM."

"CIMS can search as efficiently as some LIMS, however is not intended to replace a LIMS, instead, it is designed to give the analyst the ability to prepare and preview the data before it is uploaded into the enterprise's data management systems. "
