Chromperfect Data Acquisition – Authoritative Classification

This page is reference material used for technical classification.

This page defines how Chromperfect acquires data.
It exists solely to classify the acquisition type before any troubleshooting or configuration guidance is given.

If guidance elsewhere appears to conflict with this page, this page takes precedence.

Acquisition Categories (Authoritative)

Exactly one of the following applies.

A) Passive Analog Acquisition (Tigre)

What it is
Chromperfect records a changing analog voltage signal via a Tigre interface.

Digital communication with instrument
No

Instrument / autosampler control
No

What Chromperfect knows about the instrument
Nothing (model, conditions, status are unknown)

Key identifier
A Tigre interface is capturing detector signals from the instrument’s analog signal outputs.

Hard rule
If this applies, Chromperfect is acting like a strip‑chart recorder.
Do not apply any digital, Ethernet, serial, or ICF guidance.

B) Native Chromperfect Digital Instrument Connection

What it is
Chromperfect communicates directly with the instrument using a native Chromperfect driver.

Digital communication with instrument
Yes

Transport
Serial (RS‑232) or Ethernet

Instrument / autosampler control
Yes (where supported by the instrument)

Key identifier
The instrument is configured using a Chromperfect native instrument connection, not ICF.

Hard rule
Do not apply ICF / RC.NET guidance unless explicitly confirmed.

C) ICF / RC.NET (Manufacturer Driver Layer)

What it is
Chromperfect uses the manufacturer’s driver stack via ICF / RC.NET.

Digital communication with instrument
Yes

Transport
Ethernet only

Instrument / autosampler control
Yes

Key identifier
ICF / RC.NET is explicitly referenced or selected.

Hard rule
ICF never uses RS‑232.
Do not provide serial guidance for ICF systems.

D) Data Retrieval / Import Systems (Special Cases)

Applies to
ProteinSimple ICE‑3
INFICON systems

What it is
Data is acquired and stored by the instrument.
Chromperfect retrieves or imports the data.

Live data acquisition by Chromperfect
No

Hard rule
Do not attempt acquisition setup or live acquisition troubleshooting.
Escalate acquisition issues to human support.

Mandatory Classification Rule

If a user question involves any of the following:

  • data acquisition

  • instrument connection

  • instrument or autosampler control

  • acquisition setup or acquisition troubleshooting

Then classification must be completed first using this page.

No troubleshooting, diagnosis, or corrective guidance may be given until classification is complete.

Minimal Classification Question

Ask one observable question:

“Do you have a Tigre interface capturing analog detector signals, or is Chromperfect communicating digitally with the instrument?”

If the answer cannot be determined after up to three clarification attempts, escalate.

Absolute Prohibitions (Before Classification)

Before classification is confirmed, do not:

  • suggest causes

  • recommend fixes

  • reference network issues

  • reference IP addresses, ports, firewalls, or security software

  • reference documentation, videos, or procedures
