Chapter 2.3 – What a Method Controls

Part of Section 2 – Files and Method Fundamentals

About this video

In this chapter of the Chromperfect Beginner Training Series, we explain what a method file controls within Chromperfect and how it defines both data acquisition and data interpretation.

The method file acts as the central configuration file, determining key acquisition parameters such as data sampling rate, run time, channel assignment, and setpoint control, as well as processing settings including integration, calibration, and reporting. While acquisition parameters define how data is collected, all other settings influence how that data is interpreted and presented without altering the original signal.

Understanding what a method controls is essential for building reliable workflows, ensuring data consistency, and avoiding unnecessary reruns in chromatography by distinguishing between acquisition-critical settings and post-processing parameters.
