Chromperfect’s Analysis Program provides powerful options for generating, viewing, and exporting reports. In this guide, we’ll walk through the key features, including fixed and formatted reports, automatic reporting, copying results into Excel, and exporting data as text files.
Working with Chromatography Reports in the Analysis Program
The Analysis Program can generate reports and display them in a window. Once created, reports can be:
Printed directly
Copied to the clipboard as text
Exported as a text file
Note: Dual-channel formatted reports and concatenated reports from multiple format files are not supported here. To generate these, use the Batch Processing Utility (covered in a future video).
Generating a Report
To create a report:
Open the Analysis Program from the main menu.
Open your chromatogram.
From the Report drop-down menu, choose one of the following:
Fixed Short Form
Fixed Long Form
Formatted Report
Fixed reports appear immediately.
Formatted reports require a format file. If your method file already includes format files, they can be selected directly from the Method Format Files submenu.
Using Auto Report
Chromperfect can generate reports automatically whenever a new raw or bound file is opened.
Enable this by selecting Report → Auto Report, then choosing:
Fixed Short Form
Fixed Long Form
Formatted Report
Select None to disable automatic reporting.
Displaying Multiple Reports
Reports for several chromatograms can be displayed simultaneously.
Only one report per chromatogram can be active at a time.
Generating a new report for the same chromatogram will replace the old one.
Reports appear as continuous text (no pagination). However, when printed or exported to PDF, all plots and images specified in the format file will be included.
Copying Report Text
Reports can be copied and pasted into other applications:
Go to Report → Copy to Clipboard.
Paste the text into a word processor or third-party application.
In Microsoft Excel, Chromperfect automatically formats the report as CSV, meaning results will appear neatly in individual spreadsheet cells for instant calculations and charting.
Exporting as a Text File
To export a report as a text file:
Go to File → Export Report.
Choose whether to overwrite the existing file or enter a new file name.
By default, the extension will be .CED, but any filename can be used.
The exported text file will be tab-delimited, comma-delimited, or CSV, depending on the settings in the format file. To adjust these:
Open your Report Format File.
Select Format → [Report Name].
Go to the Miscellaneous Options tab to review and change text file format options.
Conclusion
Reports in Chromperfect are flexible and easy to use, whether you’re printing directly, exporting to text, or working in Excel. By understanding the different report formats and export options, you can streamline your chromatography workflows and enhance your data analysis.
