Chromperfect Chromatography Data System, How to resolve Licensing problems

Licensing is a critical part of keeping Chromperfect running smoothly, but issues can occasionally arise due to expired licenses, hardware changes, or file corruption. This guide explains the most common licensing errors, how to identify the problem, and the steps you can take to resolve it.

Common Chromperfect license problems

When a license issue occurs, users may encounter error messages such as:

  • Temporary license has expired

  • One or more VER files has invalid contents

  • License denied

  • Computer fingerprint does not match

While the Chromperfect licensing system is designed to be robust and reliable, these messages indicate that the software cannot validate the license and full functionality may be restricted.

Why Do License Problems Happen?

Most users never encounter licensing issues. However, problems may occur when:

  • A temporary license has expired.

  • Hardware changes affect a computer fingerprint license.

  • Files on a USB license key are damaged or missing.

  • User error leads to accidental deletion or modification of license files.

Fortunately, Chromperfect Version 8 and later includes a built-in diagnostic tool to quickly identify license details and help resolve issues.

Viewing Chromperfect License Information

To troubleshoot a license problem, you can still access limited tools in the software even if the main features are disabled:

  1. Open the Chromperfect Main Menu.

  2. Click the System button.

  3. From the File menu, choose System → View License Information.

This will display a detailed summary of your active licenses, including:

  • License type (USB or fingerprint).

  • Status of the license.

  • Error messages or expiry details.

This information can help you understand the cause of the problem and will be requested by the support team if further assistance is needed.

Next Steps if Your License Has Failed

If you are still within a supported version:

  • Take a screenshot of the license information.

  • Email the screenshot to Chromperfect support for fast resolution.

If your system is running an older, unsupported version:

  • Upgrade options are available at affordable prices.

  • A new license can be issued with your upgrade to restore full access.
