Upgrading Your Chromperfect Software: How to Locate Your Serial Number

When upgrading to the latest version of Chromperfect, one of the most important steps is providing your current software serial number. This ensures our team can issue a new license that matches your existing configuration, including the instruments and modules you already use.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through several methods to find your Chromperfect serial number.
Why the Chromperfect Serial Number Matters
Your serial number allows our admin team to process your upgrade and ensure continuity between your current and new license. This includes:
Number and type of instruments connected
Any additional software modules purchased
Maintaining your existing configuration
Where to Find Your Serial Number
1. On the Original Invoice
For most Chromperfect systems, the license and serial information are printed directly on the invoice you received at the time of purchase.
2. On the Main Menu (Older Versions)
In earlier Chromperfect versions, the serial number is displayed directly on the main menu.
3. In the Start Bar (Version 6 Onwards)
From Chromperfect Version 6 onwards, the start bar was introduced at the top of the screen.
Look for a button labeled About.
Clicking this will display your license and serial number.
4. In the System or System Manager Program
Within the System (or System Manager in older versions) utility:
Open the utility
Go to the System menu
Select View License Information
5. On the USB License Key
If you no longer have access to your PC or the Chromperfect software but still have your USB license key:
Connect the key to a computer
In Windows Explorer, the license key will appear as a drive
Open the key and look for a file named cp32vx.ver (where X is the version number, typically 5, 6, 7, or 8)
You can open this file with a text editor like Notepad, or copy it and email it to your Chromperfect representative
⚠️ Important: Never delete, edit, or add files to your Chromperfect license key. Doing so may invalidate the software license permanently.
