In today’s Chromperfect training video, we address a common technical support question: what does the instrument status “Awaiting Download” mean in the data acquisition program?

Many users expect their instrument to display the status “Ready” before running samples. When instead they see “Awaiting Download,” it can raise concerns. The good news is that this message is not an error and does not indicate any problem with Chromperfect or the instrument.

For an instrument to be “Ready,” Chromperfect needs certain information from the user — this process is called downloading the instrument. At a minimum, the user must select a method file and provide a filename for saving raw data. Additional optional information, such as sample names, can also be entered.

In the video, we demonstrate how:

  • Instruments with downloaded settings show as Ready.

  • Instruments without method or filename entries display Awaiting Download.

  • Once the method and filename are entered and downloaded, the status changes to Ready and the run can be started.

Normally, once this process is completed, Chromperfect remembers the last downloaded information, so you shouldn’t see the “Awaiting Download” message again.

Watch the full video below to see step-by-step how to handle this status message in Chromperfect.
