Chromatography Data System Station Manager in Chromperfect Chromatography Software

Introduction

This training video explains how to configure The Station Manager in Chromperfect, focusing on local workstation settings and auditing. While this demonstration was produced using Chromperfect Version 8 and Windows 11, other versions and operating systems may behave slightly differently. Always check your user manual for version-specific details.

The Station Manager program allows users to manage local settings, logging, and auditing directly on their workstation. These settings mirror those in the System Manager but are stored locally in the registry rather than in the system configuration files.

Launching the Station Manager

To launch the Station Manager, click on the Station button from the Chromperfect main menu. The configuration form will appear, displaying options for managing station-specific logging and auditing preferences.

Note: This program is accessible to all Chromperfect users, but saving changes requires Windows administrator privileges. Consider running cpstaman.exe as administrator instead of using the main menu button.

Local Logging and Auditing

The login tab section of the Station Manager handles local station logging configuration. These settings are inactive when central data logging is specified at the system level. Depending on their role, users may or may not have permission to modify these logging parameters.

The Auditing tab provides options to control whether users are required to enter a reason when changing a file. This ensures a full audit trail is maintained whenever files are modified and saved, improving compliance in regulated environments.

Instrument Restrictions

The instruments tab section allows administrators to restrict which instruments are visible on the local workstation. This restriction applies to all users on that station. At the system level, the System Manager also provides a similar feature, but with the ability to assign instruments to specific groups.

File Menu Options

The File menu in the Station Manager provides the following options:

  • Save – Writes all changes to the registry.

  • Print – Outputs station configuration settings to the printer, preview form, or a text file.

  • Exit – Terminates the program. If changes were made but not saved, users will be prompted to save before exiting.

Help Menu Options

The Help menu includes two items:

  • Contents – Opens the help program and displays the table of contents.

  • About – Displays version and program information.
